Bowman criticizes Greene for making “reckless” and “dangerous” comments regarding the Capitol encounter

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) claimed on Thursday that she felt “threatened” after an incident the two had the day before on the Capitol’s steps, and Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-N.Y.) blasted her for making “reckless” and “dangerous” comments.

Bowman criticized Greene, claiming she was placing him in danger with her comments and using racial stereotypes that stigmatized Black males, bringing up the hanging of Emmett Till in 1955 and the shooting death of Michael Brown by police in Ferguson, Missouri, in 2014.

Greene is “not even using a dog whistle” but rather a “bullhorn to put a target on my back,” the victim said.

Because of both our skin tone and the fact that we are loud and passionate about certain topics, Black males have historically been stereotyped as aggressive, according to Bowman.

At a news conference earlier in the day, Greene said that she is “very concerned” about Bowman’s “history of aggression” against her and others.

yelling and increasing his voice. His physical demeanor is hostile, she continued, and he has an aggressive disposition.

“I believe Jamaal Bowman is the subject of a lot of worry, and I share that concern. He makes me feel intimidated,” Greene said.

Bowman said that he never entered Greene’s personal space throughout their conversation and that they were both laughing.

“I am the middle school principal, and everybody who has dealt with me, knows me, or is one of the reporters here understands that. I’m an energy instructor. With the exception of when children are being murdered on our streets, I’m always kind, engaged, and welcoming. That should infuriate everyone, he said.

Rep. George Santos (R-NY) was responding to inquiries from reporters when Bowman and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) stopped him.

Following the filing of a federal indictment against Santos, the House earlier on Wednesday forwarded a motion to expel him to the Ethics Committee, thereby postponing a vote on whether to do so.
