Megan Markle, a former actress and Netflix producer, has been banned from the Critics Choice Awards by Joey Berlin, CEO of the Critics Choice Association.
Berlin personally removed Markle’s name from the guest list and instructed his staff not to invite her or her husband Prince Harry to the awards show on January 4th, 2024.
The decision was motivated by his disdain for Markle and her controversial documentary, Harry and Megan, which was nominated for best streaming non-fiction series.
Markle and Prince Harry were accused of exploiting their personal issues for sympathy and profit, tarnishing the reputation and image of the royal family.
Critics argue that Markle deserves fair treatment and that Berlin’s personal opinion should not interfere with the voting process and invitation policy. They also point out that Markle has a history of success as an actress and has been nominated for several awards, including People’s Choice Award and Teen Choice Award.
Bernstein has refused to back down or apologize for his decision and claims that he has the support and approval of the majority of the Critics Choice Association and the network of the awards show.
He has dismissed the possibility of any legal action or repercussion from Markle and her team and has challenged them to sue him.
