Homeless Woman Refusing To Abandon Her Six Canines For A Cozy Bed At An Animal Shelter

The inspiring story of a 65-year-old woman in Mexico has been warming hearts around the world. Rather than seek refuge at a homeless shelter, she chose to bravely sleep on the streets under nothing but a plastic bag – so that she could continue tending to her beloved six  dogs.

For the past eight years, Chole has called Tijuana’s streets her home – constructing an upcycled shelter from plastic bags for both herself and her precious canines.

Omar Camarillo, a photographer of noteworthy ability and precision, snapped pictures of Chole in her lush covering. These photographs were then shared on the well-known Facebook page ‘Blanco y Negro’ and gained thousands upon thousands of likes and profound comments.

In a desperate effort to help Chole, local police reportedly spent half an hour attempting to encourage her to find refuge in one of the area’s shelters. Nevertheless, she was horrified at the notion and broke down into tears when faced with leaving behind her four-legged friends.

Knowing that animals were not welcome at the shelter, Chloe was worried her beloved dogs would be left on their own and firmly told police she didn’t need any assistance, insisting “I’m fine here.”

The authorities could not leave Chole out in the frigid temperatures, and after much convincing they got her to agree to seek refuge for the night. Photographs show her heading down a street with multiple dogs at her side, following which she is assumed to have spent the evening at her son’s house.

In just 24 hours, however, the determined 65-year-old was back out on the streets with her four-legged friends.

When speaking to Bored Panda, photographer Omar expressed that he was astonished by the circumstances in which this woman lived.

He went on to mention that he was able to recognize the immense kindness of “La Chole” as she selflessly assists animals even though they have so many shortcomings.

After Chole’s account spread like wildfire online, Alejandra Cordova Castro was prompted to lend her a hand by supplying the elderly woman with essential items such as water, food, blankets, and socks.

In a recent social media post, Chole shared her love of animals and how she’s going above and beyond to ensure that they are taken care of. She asked people to put themselves in the shoes of those without comfortable blankets or sanctuary from the elements and urged them to buy her tacos or burritos as it costs no more than twenty pesos.

Alejandra was moved to tears by Chole’s genuine gratitude, as she expressed her thanks so many times.

Chole’s story has spread throughout the world, and she is now paying fifty pesos a day to stay in an inadequate shelter. Yet her most treasured companions are with her: her dogs! She hopes that by sharing her circumstances people will step forward to help provide a safe place for them as well as many more homeless animals she plans to rescue.
