In the Raw family drama of 2023, King Charles is set to upgrade the titles of Edward and Sophie Wessix to the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh.
These titles hold historical significance and were previously belonging to their father Phillip, who passed away in April 2021.
However, instead of keeping the titles, King Charles has turned them into life peages, meaning they won’t naturally pass on to Edward’s son James the Earl of Wessex.
This controversy has sparked debates among commentators, with some suggesting that it could encourage their son James to join the firm.
Former role editor Charles Ray Wen disagreed with the idea of making the title hereditary, pointing out that it’s unclear whether James is interested in working with the family.
Meanwhile, young role editors George Charlotte and Louie are stepping into roles by the time they turn 18, suggesting that there might be enough working roles by then.
