Uncertainty Remains About Harry and Meghan’s Appearance in King Charles III’s Coronation Ceremony

King Charles III’s coronation is coming up in a few months, and Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s attendance is still uncertain.

A palace insider confirms that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will be invited to the celebration in People’s cover story from February 8th. The couple hasn’t received an invitation, according to a person close to them, and no attempts at reconciliation have been made. Harry and Markle’s and Buckingham Palace’s representatives did not instantly react to POPSUGAR’s request for comment.

The coronation of Charles is scheduled for May 6 at Westminster Abbey. The coronation ceremony will be presided over by the Archbishop of Canterbury, according to a statement released by Buckingham Palace on October 11th, 2022. Camilla, the Queen Consort, will also be crowned at the same time as her husband. The Coronation “shall be based in long-standing traditions and pageantry, while reflecting the monarch’s position today and looking toward the future,” the Palace noted.

When Harry was asked about the coronation in his ITV interview with journalist Tom Bradby in January, he didn’t confirm his attendance either. “There’s a lot that can happen between now and then. But, the door is always open. The ball is in their court,” he said.

A source tells People that Charles reportedly wants the situation between his family to “calm down” in time for his coronation. The insider adds: “It is such a momentous occasion for Charles, and he would want his son to be at the coronation to witness it. He would like to have Harry back in the family. If they don’t sort it out, it will always be part of the king’s reign and how he has left his family disjointed. He has had a reputation as a distant parent, and it would be awful for him for that to continue.”
