At eight months old, Lana may still be a young pup, but she sure knows the importance of kindness. Lana was rescued from the streets of Brazil with her siblings late last year and was adopted by Suelen Schaumloeffel and her fiancé, who offered Lana all the love and affection a pup could hope for. Despite being in a happy home, Lana has not forgotten about dogs who aren’t as lucky.
The recent weather in their region had been rather chilly, so Schaumloeffel purchased a thicker blanket to ensure that Lana was warm and cozy in her doghouse out front. However, little did she know that the puppy would soon forgo a little of her comfort for the sake of a new friend.
On Tuesday morning, Schaumloeffel’s fiancé discovered that Lana had dragged the blanket outside to share it with another dog who lived on the streets. It turned out that Schaumloeffel had seen this dog near their house the day before, but he had run away when she approached him to check for an ID tag. However, Lana had already made his acquaintance and decided to help him stay warm and comfortable too.
Schaumloeffel was touched by Lana’s selflessness, remarking, “How beautiful what she did for her friend. My best four-legged friend reminded me of something so important: generosity!” Lana’s actions were a powerful reminder of how even small acts of kindness can make a big difference.
Since then, Schaumloeffel and her fiancé have spotted the dog around intermittently, but he still runs away whenever they try to get close. They are hoping to help him find his way back home if he is lost. In the meantime, they have been leaving out food and water for him, just as Lana would do if she could.
Schaumloeffel says, “She is the nicest little dog I’ve ever met. We forget sometimes the difference we can make in someone’s life. She reminded me of this.” Indeed, Lana’s story serves as a reminder that even the smallest act of kindness can make someone’s day. Lana may be young, but she is already leading by example with her kind heart.
