We’ve all heard stories about owners who abandon their dogs in public places with signs around their necks, asking for someone to take care of them. It’s heartbreaking and leaves us wondering how anyone could do such a thing to their loyal companion. But the story we are about to tell you isn’t one of those tales.
Shoppers going in and out of a Pennsylvania Target store were confused when they saw an adorable golden retriever sitting on the sidewalk with a sign around his neck. Upon closer examination, the sign read that the pup was not abandoned and was loved by his owner. The shoppers breathed a sigh of relief.
Jackson is a 3-year-old golden retriever who was rescued by his owner, Steve Moore, from a shelter. Steve spent a month training Jackson so that he would learn to ignore distractions. The training involved lots of treats and trips to busy areas where the sweet golden honed his impulse-control skills.
Though he gets tons of attention as he sits patiently waiting for his dad to collect him after running errands, Jackson knows to stay put. “Everybody wants to take him home,” Steve said. “I just find that amazing because four weeks ago, nobody wanted him.”
Jackson’s story is heartwarming and shows that with enough patience and love, dogs of any age can learn new tricks. Watch the sweet golden show off his stuff in the clip below, and remember to share if you agree!
