A dog who has lived in a shelter for years looks not for snacks or playthings, but rather the companionship of people.
Speck is a two-year-old Border Collie mix who has resided at Bullock County Humane Society for the past eighteen months. The kind pup patiently awaits his forever home and enjoys the company of all he meets, be they canine, feline, or human.
The director of the Bullock County Humane Society, Desiray Miracle-Wilder, wrote that this sweet animal simply wants someone to love him and hold his hand. He will make an excellent pet for anyone!
Desiray was cleaning kennels when she came across a dog that had been continually overlooked by potential adopters until a video of him went viral. She recorded Speck wrapping his paws around her arms and holding on to it for dear life.
His tail was wagging rapidly and he was trying to squeeze himself through the bars to be close to her. Thousands of people saw the video and it didn’t take long for a family to fall in love with him.
Speck has already been adopted by a family that found him through Allie’s Hope For Paws Dog Rescue. His new home will be on a 26-acre farm, where he’ll get to run around with two furry brothers and their humans, Mike, and his family.
The only hitch is that the family lives out of state, so the shelter needs help with transport. Allie’s Hope For Paws Dog Rescue posted, “WE NEED VOLUNTEERS TO GET SPECK TO NEW YORK!‼️
AHFP is working on coordinating a volunteer pilot flight with Pilots N Paws, but we need more volunteers! We are in need of drivers, truckers, and pilots to help get Speck to his new home. If you are able to help in any way, please contact the rescue.
“Speck got adopted not only because he’s incredibly cute, but also because his story touched so many people. His video helped raise awareness for other fur babies in need of rescuing and we even received some food donations! I’m feeling so loved and supported by everyone right now,” wrote Desiray.
