Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, has once again become the target of mockery, this time by the popular US comedy show Saturday Night Live (SNL).
Comedian Michael Che took a swipe at Meghan during a segment, jokingly stating that she was being offered a mere $19 an hour to attend the coronation.
As he made the remark, a graphic of the Duchess dressed as a maid appeared behind him, eliciting laughter from the studio audience and viewers at home.
The segment, which aired on SNL, featured Che announcing that the organizers of King Charles‘ coronation had officially invited Meghan Markle.
He then added, “And this is nice, at a starting salary of $19 an hour.”
The joke was met with uproarious laughter from the audience, and many viewers took to Twitter to express their amusement.
Vianna Flores tweeted, “This is hilarious,” while others responded with cry-laughing emojis and claps.
However, not everyone found the segment amusing.
Charmy May, a Twitter user, criticized Michael Che, stating, “Notice how Michael Che is not funny and he never has been.
Especially tonight with his trashy cheap shot Meghan joke.
Not funny.
Just getting used to insult a black woman.
Apologize retract.
But it’s unforgivable.
It’s not even funny.
Just rude.”
This SNL swipe at Meghan Markle is just the latest in a series of viral jokes made at the expense of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
The popular animated show South Park recently parodied the royal couple in a brutal episode.
