Police body camera footage captures 33-year-old Max Sosa Jr. moments before he was fatally shot

Police body camera footage captures 33-year-old Max Sosa Jr. moments before he was fatally shot. He was visibly distraught after experiencing a breakdown due to his wife cheating on him.

The authorities arrived after his estranged wife called 911 saying: “I need you to please come to my apartment. My ex, he’s threatening to kill himself.”

Fresno Police shot and killed Sosa during the early morning hours of November 4, 2023, after he brandished scissors. Initially, he was tased, but he then lunged forward, resulting in him being shot.

The incident took a dramatic turn when Sosa, in his white Tesla, was seen driving towards an officer in the parking lot of the complex. The officer, who appeared to have his gun in hand, then attempted to stop the man, as he drove off.

Sosa’s family has since filed a wrongful death lawsuit in federal court seeking damages. They argue that Sosa was in a mental health crisis which they believe was mishandled by officers who didn’t call in a specialized unit to deescalate the situation.

The family’s attorney, Keven Little, stated that Fresno Police failed. He argued that there was time to arrange help from trained professionals, but instead, Sosa dealt with armed police officers.
