Queen Camilla confided in Princess Kate on the secret to hanging onto a prince during the early days of her relationship with Prince William, as revealed by royal author Robert Lacey.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have now been married for over a decade, but Kate struggled to heed the advice given by her mother-in-law when they were studying together at St. Andrews University.
In his biography, “Battle of Brothers,” Lacey shares that the Queen advised Kate to fit her timetable and entire life around William’s busy schedule.
However, this proved challenging for Kate as William’s royal duties took precedence after graduation, leaving her on the sidelines.
Consequently, Kate had to come up with her own plan.
Lacey explains that Kate’s immediate goal was to lead William to the altar, but she also needed to establish her own independent career path as camouflage.
It was crucial for her not to appear needy or risk the possibility of being dumped.
This strategy seemed to work, as the couple has now been together for two decades, culminating in their wedding at Westminster Abbey, which was watched by nearly 37 million people across the UK.
Recently, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visited the Scottish Highlands, where they are known as the Duke and Duchess of Rothesay.
Their enduring relationship serves as a testament to the advice Queen Camilla shared with Kate all those years ago.
